I’ve been working with NLP for over 10 years now. It’s always been a struggle to point out specifically the scope of NLP.
Michael, over at NLPsuccessProducts.com, came up with an interesting one-word definition that astounded me:
If I had to describe the basis of NLP, it would be “results.”
BOOM! In one fell swoop, it’s all there.
Of course, results have always hovered around the idea of NLP. But I’d never heard anyone make “results” THE thing — and was too thick into the bushes to figure it out myself.
Before modeling, before anything else, results were, are and always will be the crux of NLP.
Modeling is about producing results, not about understanding.
Head over to Michael’s blog and see if you can dig up any additional nuggets of wisdom from him.
Hi Martin,
thanks so much for the nice comment on my site (http://www.nlpsuccessproducts.com) and the kind write up here.
I’m so glad you left a comment, because now I found your site as well. I’ve just posted a new article this morning (though not as prolific as you – lol), and will hopefully add new content 1x week. I’m in the process of completing certification (end Dec, early Jan.), and as you know it does take some time to work on the “practical” stuff.
Thanks again, and let’s stay in touch. If you would like to guest post, let me know. And soon I’d like to do an “ask the NLP expert” call (phone interview) for folks on my list, so let me know if you’re interested.
Does that seem like a good idea to you? Take care,
Michael
